In a heartwarming recognition of over 40 years of unwavering volunteer service, BadmintonBoZ stalwart Lonny was presented with a prestigious bronze medal of honor and a certificate from Badminton Netherlands. The surprise presentation took place during a celebratory high tea for the club’s “Sport Overdag” (Sports During the Day) group on Wednesday, October 1st.
Lonny’s journey with the sport began on October 1st, 1985, when a group of ladies initiated daytime badminton play. She was instrumental from the very beginning,contributing to various facets of the club,including the activities and recreation committees,the club magazine,organizing championships,and even the legendary 24-hour badminton marathons. Her dedication mirrors the commitment seen in many long-standing community sports figures across the U.S., who often form the backbone of local athletic organizations.

The energy was palpable as these shuttle fanatics engaged in a staggering 190 matches, showcasing a high level of skill and sportsmanship.
