Ligue 2 Roundup: Saint-Étienne, Troyes & Red Star – Latest Results

For the 12th day of Ligue 2 this Tuesday, ASSE bounced back well against Pau, Troyes confirmed its status against Amiens, while Red Star lost heavily at Dunkirk.

Saint-Etienne, which remained on two defeats in a row, bounced back well by destroying Pau 6-0 in the shock of the 12th day of L2 on Tuesday evening, marked by the laborious success of leader Troyes against Amiens (3-1) and the rout of Red Star in Dunkirk (3-0).

The Stéphanois now occupy second place (23 points), four lengths behind the Trojans, while the Red Star which foundered at Dunkirk has fallen to third place, although with the same number of points as the Greens. For the reception of the runner-up before kick-off, Saint-Etienne coach Eirik Horneland made strong choices by depriving himself of his usual scorers Lucas Stassin and Zuriko Davitashvili, left on the bench. Choices paid off since the Greens, transfigured, led 4-0 at half-time against the unrecognizable Palois.

They made the match easy thanks to an early goal from full-back Juan Ferreira (2nd). Then on a high recovery, Irvin Cardona, back in the starting lineup, scored the break goal (11th). Then, they put an end to Pau’s illusions thanks to two goals in three minutes from Florian Tardieu on a penalty (41st) and Joshua Duffus (44th). The second act was of the same ilk. Joshua Duffus, again, and the returning Davitashvili added two other achievements (48th, 79th).

8th invincibility match for Troyes

The leader Troyes offered himself an 8th match of invincibility by overcoming the eye-catching Amiénois who ended up cracking (3-1) on the 7th and 8th goals of the season from Tawfik Bentayeb and a last one from Mouanaïm El Idrissy.

In the other spectacular match of the evening, Reims made Boulogne-sur-Mer do the talking by inflicting a tennis score 6-2 thanks in particular to a double from the Japanese Keito Nakamura. Thanks to this great success, the City of Kings team is in fifth place (19 pts). The Red Star suffered their first away defeat this season, logically losing 3-0 at Dunkirk, who followed up with a second success by the same score and held on to the first half of the table (8th, 16 pts).

In a duel of former elite residents, Montpellier (6th, 18 pts) brought back a precious point from the draw of Clermont which is struggling to take off (14th, 14 pts). Nancy (13th, 15 pts) gave herself some breathing room by beating (2-0) Bastia, bottom red (4 pts).
