Today the finalists of the 2025 Italian Junior and Under Championships currently taking place in Chiari were defined. There will be five athletes who will have the chance to achieve a treble: Alessio Catalfamo, Dominique De Leon, Franzi Hellrigl, Davide Izzo and Pia Kopania.

Among the Juniors only Davide Izzo (Silver Feathers) is in the running to score a hat-trick. In the men’s singles the Sicilian will challenge Zyver De Leon (BC Milan) while with him he will face the men’s doubles final against Tobias Andergassen and Ruben Fellin (ASV Ubertersch). Izzo’s last final will be the mixed doubles one where together with Ilaria Fornaciari (Alba Shuttle) he will be opposed by Ruben Fellin and Sofia Galimberti (ASV Uberetsch), who will try to regain the title. In the women’s doubles Anna Hell and Sofia Galimberti will challenge Ilaria Fornaciari and Sofia Protto (Alba Shuttle) and Hell and Protto will also find themselves opposing each other in the women’s singles final.

Two athletes will play three finals in the Under 17 Alessio Catalfamo (GS Fiamme Oro) and Pia Kopania (ASV Mals), the duo together will play the mixed doubles final against Felix Tragust Atz and Nadia Malleier (ASV Uberetsch). In the men’s singles Catalfamo will face Sebastian Tataru (ASV Mals) while in the doubles together with Tayaru he will challenge De Stefani and Tragust Atz (ASV Mals/ASV Uberetsch). Kopania, on the other hand, will face Margherita Tognetti (BC Milano) in the women’s singles, her partner in the women’s doubles final against Malleier/Nahdawi (ASV Uberetsch).

Among the Under 15s, both Dominique De Leon (Junior BC Milano) and Franzi Hellrigl (ASV Mals) will play three finals. In the men’s singles he will challenge his clubmate Luca Bohong and with him he will face the men’s doubles final against Francesco Cardillo and Alessandro Lagasio (BC Pietrarossa/Il Punto). Hellrigl will also challenge her clubmate in the women’s singles, Mara Stricker and she will also be Hellrigl’s partner in the women’s doubles final against Laura Grillo and Lisa Tschimbern (SSV Bozen/ASV Uberetsch). Finally, in the mixed final De Loen and Hellirigl will face Mattia Cattaneo and Lea Gitterle (BCC Lecco/ASV Mals).

Finally, no one will play three finals among the Under 13s. In the mixed doubles Leonardo Jay Roopak with Angelica Morino (Alba Shuttle/Acqui Badminton) will challenge Xhoel Toska and Viola Frassine (Brescia Sport Più). Frassine together with Viola Torresi (Brescia Sport Più) will face Valentina Burgo and Lina Goegele (ASV Mals) in the women’s doubles; the latter will instead be the finalists of the women’s singles. In the all-South Tyrolean men’s singles final between Florian Wieser (SSV Bozen) and Gabriel Tragust Atz (ASV Uberetsch) who will then also play as a couple in the men’s doubles final against Thomas Maghinici and Leonardo Jay Roopak (Alba Shuttle).

The event was also characterized by being Plastic Free and fully sustainable with various initiatives implemented by the organizing club of the GSA Chiari, including the absence of plastic bottles.

The Athletes Commission has also organized a prize competition for all the athletes present in Chiari, as an initiative to involve young athletes with questions about Badminton, Regulations, Anti-Doping, Fair Play and General Sports Culture and which will see the awards ceremony tomorrow.
