Hai Dang: Super 100 Badminton Semifinals – Again!

Nguyen Hai Dang,Vietnam’s top badminton player and currently ranked No.55 globally, has punched his ticket to the semifinals of the 2025 Indonesia Masters II, a BWF Super 100 event. The victory came on the evening of October 24, when Dang bested Malaysia’s Ong Zhen Yi (world No. 154) in a hard-fought three-game match,21-11,19-21,21-15.

This marks the second time in his career that Hai Dang has reached the semifinals of a Super 100 tournament, following his performance at the Al Ain Masters 2025 in the United Arab Emirates. His next challenge will be against China’s Dong Tianyao, who is ranked No. 118 in the world.

As the sixth seed in the Indonesia Masters II, Hai Dang received a bye into the second round. He then proceeded to defeat Thailand’s Wongsup In 2-1 and indonesia’s Krishna Adi Nugraha 2-0 to secure his spot in the final four.

The other men’s singles semifinal will be an all-Indonesian affair, featuring Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah against the seventh seed, prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo.

Should Hai Dang advance past Dong Tianyao, he could possibly face Shujiwo again. Hai Dang previously defeated Shujiwo 21-19,21-8 in the quarterfinals of the Al Ain Masters 2025,a scenario that could repeat itself if both players win their respective semifinal matches.

The men’s singles semifinals of the Indonesia Masters II are scheduled for this afternoon, October 25.

The 2025 Indonesia Masters II boasts a total prize purse of $110,000. by reaching the semifinals, Hai Dang is guaranteed to earn $1,595 and 3,850 world ranking points. A trip to the final would see the Vietnamese player receive at least $4,180 and 4,680 points.
