What a feat! Félix Lebrun qualified for the China Smash final on Sunday in Beijing, beating Chinese Lin Shidong in the semi-finals, the world’s number 2. Never has a Frenchman achieved such a performance in this type of tournament, equivalent to the great chelems in tennis.
The youngest of the Lebrun brothers, current 7th worldwide, won 4 sets at 2 (11-5, 7-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-6) at the end of a widely controlled match, with some exceptional points.
In the final, around Midi Hours Française, the bronze medalist of the 2024 Paris Games will face another Chinese -the fourth for him in this tournament considered one of the most raised on the world circuit -, who will be the winner of the other semi -final between the world number one Wang Chuqin to Xiang Peng (9th).
“Thank you to all the French who woke up early this Sunday to follow my match and we meet this afternoon,” reacted the 19-year-old Frenchman.
