The upcoming game is an important event in the life of Daugavpils basketball, as it will be the team’s debut this season at home. Daugavpilietes starts the season with two games, just a few days apart. Already on Thursday, October 23, in an away game, our team will face “TTT Rīga Juniores”, and on Saturday, October 25, they will play in front of their fans for the first time this season.

2025/2026 Six teams are competing in the LSBL 1st Division tournament of 2018 – Daugavpils University, SBK “Liepāja/LSSS”, Jaunatnes izlase, RSU, “TTT Rīga” and RBS “TTT Rīga Juniores”. The teams will play a two-round tournament, meeting each other in home and away games. On the other hand, in the spring, the four best teams will continue the fight for Latvian Championship medals in the playoffs.

In parallel with the LSBL championship, all six teams will also participate in the Baltic Women’s Basketball League tournament. “TTT Rīga” and RSU will play in the first division, while the other four teams – Daugavpils University, “Liepāja/LSSS”, “TTT Rīga Juniores” and the Latvian Youth National Team will represent the second division. This parallel participation gives the teams more game practice and the opportunity to regularly compete with Lithuanian and Estonian clubs.

The Daugavpils University team continues to strengthen its position in the Latvian women’s basketball elite, representing the Latgale region both nationally and on the Baltic scale. The main goal this season is to fight for a place in the playoffs and to grow steadily throughout the season.

Daugavpils University starts the new season of the Latvian Women’s Basketball League with young and promising players who represent the new generation of Daugavpils basketball. The team consists of the following basketball players: Anastasija Kizika, Elizabete Lipina, Elizabete Ripa, Evelina Bondare, Yelizaveta Naidjonova, Kristiana Tarasova, Ksenia Petrova, Simona Feldman, Sintija Geriņa, Sofija Kizika, Tamirise Simonova, Tatjana Bikovska, Varvara Lavrenova, Victoria Reišela Ošeniets and Zane Gaidukas. The main coaches of the team are Irina Romanenko and Yulia Fedorenko, who have been working on the development and professional growth of athletes for several seasons.

The upcoming match in Daugavpils on Saturday will also be an opportunity for local fans to see the team’s performance in the new season in person. The game will take place in the Daugavpils Palace of Culture gym. Entrance is free. The game will be broadcast live on the official Women’s Basketball YouTube channel.
