Los Angeles opened as a -210 favorite to win the World Series over the Toronto Blue Jayswho opened with +175, according to the odds of ESPN BET. The series differential opened with -1.5 (-115) for the Dodgers and +1.5 (-105) for the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series on Monday, sending Toronto to its first World Series since 1993.
If the Dodgers capture another Commissioner’s Trophy, they will do so as top-to-bottom favorites for the second consecutive season, becoming the first team to accomplish this feat since the New York Yankees in 1999 and 2000, according to data from SportsOddsHistory.com.
Despite their subpar performance throughout the season, even when they struggled at times, eventually taking third place in the National League, the Dodgers had great support from the betting public. ESPN BET reports that nearly a third of all its World Series tickets, including settled bets, are for Los Angeles; among playoff teams, the Dodgers have accounted for 44.4 percent of the total since the start of the postseason.

He caught the attention of bettors after a late-season surge that culminated with the Blue Jays as the American League’s No. 1 seed, but they still finished with just 7.7 percent of bets overall in ESPN BET.
The first game of the World Series takes place on Friday at the Rogers Centre. The home Blue Jays opened at +125 on the betting line, while the Dodgers became road favorites at -150.
