It took a lot of effort (and extensions), but Dender finally got its first win of the season. However, things looked bad for a long time: against second division Olympic Charleroi, the home team faced a double deficit for a long time. But after a stupid red card for Ferrara, the match turned completely upside down.

Double deficit
“Finally”, Dender must have thought.
At the end of October, Dender took his first victory of the season. But until minute 90, things did not look rosy at all.
In the opening phase Dender had the opportunity to break the spell. Penalty in minute 9, Kvet behind the ball… but kicked much too weakly, Herrerin took it without much effort.
Olympic then surprisingly took over Charleroi-Farciennes. The second division team played strongly, combined well and at times were simply the better team. In minute 21, Corneillie gave the away team a deserved lead.
After half-time the score was even 0-2 via Dailly, who coolly scored his penalty. Everything pointed to a new disappointment for Dender. Or not?
Stupid red card
In minute 56 the tying goal suddenly came via Nsimba. The goal of hope? Not yet. Because it was waiting for Olympic Charleroi to get itself into trouble.
With twenty minutes left on the clock, Ferrara – who already had a yellow card behind his name – made a late kicking move. The referee didn’t hesitate for a second: second yellow, red, and so the visitors had to continue with ten. Just stupid.
That was the signal for the Milkon boys to go all out for the final offensive. And so they did. Dender pressed hard, but redemption only came in minute 90. Moutha found Kadiri with a perfect cross, who hammered home the 2-2.
The red wall of Olympic Charleroi finally collapsed.

We don’t have to draw a picture anymore, Dender is on its way to the next round! With a double lead on the board, the home team calmly controls. The pace drops, Olympic Charleroi is finished, and with fifteen minutes to go, Dender can almost feel confident of qualifying.

Books available! Dender first had a giant chance one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but it was not scored. Moments later it finally hits: Kadiri delivers a devastating blow and kicks the ball in with great force. 4-2, match decided.
Olympic Charleroi can’t figure it out at all. Dender dominates, easily taps away the visitors and seems to make it 4-2. But… the party is cancelled! Kadiri was offside, so the goal is rightly disallowed.
Dender takes the lead for the first time
It didn’t last long in extra time. After a corner kick, the ball hangs in front of the Olympic Charleroi goal, and it is Acquah who reacts fastest. He hits the ball convincingly: 3-2! Dender turns it all around.

The ball is rolling again in Denderleeuw! Can Dender continue the pace and pressure of the final offensive, or will the game pattern deteriorate again?

After a difficult start in the second half, in which Dender fell behind 0-2, the match turned completely after a red card for Ferrara. The home team took over the initiative and came back to 2-2 through Nsimba and Kadiri. Despite a fierce final offensive, the winning goal failed to materialize.

We can start again! In the very last minute Dender manages to come alongside. Moutha crosses well and Kadiri kicks in hard: 2-2: What a denouement, and there are still seven minutes of extra time.
