Cruzeiro’s U20 Star Shines vs. Spain | World Cup 2023

Future Cruzeiro reinforcement, striker Néiser Villarreal shone with three goals against Spain this Saturday (11/10). With a gala performance, the 20-year-old ensured Colombia won 3-2 and qualified for the semi-finals of the U20 World Cup in Chile.

Néiser – or Ney, as he prefers to be called, in honor of Santos attacking midfielder Neymar – defends Millonarios, from Colombia. However, he has already signed a pre-contract with Cruzeiro and should reinforce the Minas Gerais club from next season.

The young man opened the scoring for the Colombians in the 38th minute of the first half, but Spain turned it around in the final stage with Belaid and Virgili. Afterwards, Néiser found the net twice more – at 19 and 44 – and ensured the turnaround in the scoreboard.

“Very happy with the classification and the match. We made history, and history is made as the professor (César Torres, Colombia coach) said: looking for the title for Colombia. There are players who can do the same or better than me”, he declared after the game.

Néiser mentioned the yellow card he received in the second half. The punishment suspends him for the semi-final. Colombia will face Argentina, who this Saturday defeated Mexico 2-0 in the quarterfinals.
