This Tuesday, September 30, it took place in the Conmebol complex adds the I Summit of sustainability of South American football, a day that brought together referents from different countries in the region to reflect and share experiences around sustainable development in sport.
The activity detailed the work that has been carried out with Conmebol Sum, a social responsibility program that seeks to leave a mark on each South American, helping to achieve its maximum potential, promoting more education and more individual development. All this, through the soccer transforming power.
Welcome to the I Summit of sustainability of South American football! We are here today to talk and learn about sustainability, but what I would like is that everyone can take this message: we sow well -being with the transforming power of football.


The meeting was aimed at strengthening the knowledge and capabilities of the professionals of the continent regarding sustainability, promoting their application in sports organizations and addressing the three main axes of this approach: environmental, social and governance (ESG).
The agenda included presentations and dialogue spaces on:
- Introduction to sustainability and its foundations.
- UEFA sustainability strategy, as an international reference.
- Soccer and sustainability: cases and good practices in the region.
- Institutional governance, focusing on the legacy beyond people.
- Conmebol Sum presentation – 360 ° Soccer, as a development platform.
- Sustainable challenges for the future of South American sport.
- The transforming power of football through the work of the River Plate Foundation and the Cerro Porteño Foundation.
- Illustrated football, a look from art and education.
- Sustainability in sports mega -speakers in South America.
- Conversation about the fight against racism in sport.
Talking about sustainability in football is not something simple, it is a huge challenge. And that is the commitment that the Confederation has with the Conmebol Sum program, occupy, work and demonstrate that we believe in great.


Among the exhibitors were representatives of; The UEFA sustainability area, River Plate Foundation and Cerro Porteño Foundation, sustainability experts and great events, in addition to different areas of Conmebol.
The I Summit of sustainability of South American football concluded with a relationship between the attendees, reaffirming the commitment of Conmebol to the responsible, inclusive and sustainable management of South American football.
