CBA-RES Women’s Basketball: Losing Streak Continues

The Albacete team, which still does not know what it means to win this season, had its third consecutive defeat on the BASKET CERVANTES court. After going into the break with a 7-point lead, a terrible second half condemned Alberto Sanz’s team.

Yesterday was a disastrous afternoon for CBA-RES, which on the third day of the RibéSalat league traveled to Ciudad Real, to face BASKET CERVANTES on a field where in the last 5 seasons, it had always emerged victorious. After a bad start to the season, losing in the final of the JCCM trophy and in the first two days of the league, it seemed time to turn the situation around, but sadly it would not be like that.

The match began with serious difficulties for the local team to score, and with the celestial team leading the scoreboard from the beginning. Good performance in this quarter of the 8 of the CBA Ana Clemente, with 5 points right away. The second quarter was reached with 4-12 in the light, and with a CERVANTES that was beginning to wake up, in fact in this second quarter the score was not excessively high, as in the first, but the locals increased the intensity, managing to cut one point from the difference, with both teams leaving for the locker room with 18-25.

Until this moment, the CBA, without making any great boasts, was achieving its first victory of the season, but only until this moment, since from the whistle that began the second half, the Albacete team dissolved like a sugar cube. Little by little the locals were increasing the pressure while reducing the difference on the scoreboard, all while the Albaceteños were unable to score. It took them 4 minutes to score, a triple scored by the young 14-year-old player Lola Martínez, who yesterday spent more than 37 minutes on the court due to the significant losses of the Albacete players. But that triple was nothing more than a mirage, since the Albaceteans would not score again until the end of the quarter, with only one minute left in the third quarter. And to the very low scoring level of the CBA, it was added that CERVANTES entered fully into the game, leaving a partial score of 28-9 in the third quarter and leaving the game in their hands. And in the last quarter, although it is true that the locals slowed down, the light blues did even worse, they continued to be denied in front of the basket and had tremendous difficulties in scoring, making any attempt at a comeback impossible. Proof of this are Aissata Camara’s 0 points in 22 minutes on the court, being one of the players called upon to lead the team. Finally, the match ended 56-38 and with a painful defeat for CBA, after scoring only 13 points in the last 20 minutes of play.

One more week we highlight the participation of Carmen Valcarcel, Lucía Díaz and Lola Martínez, three cadet players who yesterday were once again protagonists, especially the latter, since Lola scored 7 points. And above all, one more week stood out Inés Toboso, the 25th of the CBA who is being the most decisive player of the Albacete team at this start of the season, adding 13 points and 14 rebounds yesterday, obtaining a final rating of +25. Without a doubt one of the strongholds of the CBA-RES this year.
