Brynäs Suspension: Key Player Out

Brynäs Will Be Without Star Forward Hanna Thuvik for Crucial pre-break Games Due too Suspension

In a significant blow to Brynäs’s lineup, key player Hanna Thuvik has been handed a two-game suspension, forcing her to sit out the final matches before the upcoming international break. The disciplinary commitee’s decision stems from an incident during Sunday’s SDHL clash against Luleå.

The disciplinary committee announced via a press release that Thuvik’s suspension is a direct result of a spearing infraction against Luleå’s Sarah Bujold. The incident occurred late in the first period of the heated contest. The committee cited Thuvik’s actions as disrespectful and noted the potential for injury, which were key factors in their ruling.

Thuvik Claims Intent Was to Play the puck Amidst Contact

However, Thuvik maintains her perspective on the play. She stated that she was pushed from behind just as she was attempting to gain possession of the puck. I see the edge of the puck clearly and clearly under the right inner thigh of the player. My intention is to get the puck out for continued play, while the Luleå player has no intention of clearing the puck, Thuvik explained in her statement to the board. If I hadn’t seen the puck,I wouldn’t have tried to get it out and just when I’m going to try to dig out the puck, the movement is reinforced when I’m pushed in the back simultaneously occurring by another Luleå player.

This suspension means Thuvik will miss both of Brynäs’s upcoming games against Djurgården. These are the final contests before the national team break, making her absence particularly impactful for the team’s momentum.
