In a 2018 interview,Ter Stegen reflected on this challenging phase: “It was a situation that cannot be forgotten. As a person who wants to play every game, like me, it was very intricate. And the competition with claudio was not easy. I won’t deny that there were times when I was thinking of changing, looking for solutions, as you see that the club tells you: ‘Don’t worry, Marc, you have all our trust, you are here for many years, we trust your performance.’ But then you see that reality was not like that.”
