A home run by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to Shohei Ohtani in the third inning became the decisive hit in the Blue Jays’ victory over the Dodgers to tie the World Series.
The Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr became the Japanese’s executioner Shohei Ohtani and led the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-2 victory over Los Angeles Dodgers in it Game 4 of the World Series.
Now the series is tied at two successes per side and we will have to return to Toronto for at least a sixth game.
The Blue Jays took the lead in the third inning with a two-run homer by Guerrero Jr., his seventh of the postseason, a record for the franchise. In the seventh inning, Toronto mounted a final four-run rally, an inning in which Ohtani left two runners on base and relievers Anthony Banda and Blake Treinen could not contain the rival offense.
Blue Jays received excellent performance from starter and former award winner Cy Young, Shane Bieber (2020). Bieber, who secured the victory, pitched five and a third innings allowing one run. In the first hesitation, manager John Schneider took him out and bet on his bullpen, specifically Mason Fluharty that controlled the threat.
