The Buffalo Bills have been knocking on Super Bowl Sunday’s door for years and have yet to hear back.
The franchise could finally open that door this postseason if it can secure a big playmaker before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 4.
“In a perfect world, the Bills should be aggressive. Not only do they need help at both cornerback and safety, but they also need a wide receiver for Josh Allen,” NFL.com’s Eric Edholm wrote on Friday. “The need for WR cannot be ignored. Their advanced metrics at that position are very dismal overall and the offense has not topped 245 net passing yards since Week 1.”

There aren’t many monster names at the wide receiver position that could potentially be available via trade. However, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen compiled a list of the top 25 trade candidates for 2025 and named Miami Dolphins pass catcher Jalen Waddle as the No. 2 overall prospect.
“A speedy accelerator with explosive play ability, Waddle fits best in a system that projects catch-and-run targets (crossers, inbreakers, screens) and vertical throws,” Bowen wrote Wednesday. “In his career at Miami, 16.8% of Waddle’s receptions have gone for 20 yards or more, and he has produced 38.6% of his total receiving yards after the catch. He has 405 yards and three TDs this season.
Fowler and Bowen listed the odds of Miami moving Weddle at just 10%, singling out the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers as the most logical trade partners. Getting a deal done will be more difficult for Buffalo because the Bills and Dolphins play in the same division (AFC East) and face each other twice per regular season.
That said, Miami is ranked 1-6 this year and appears ready to make major changes to both its roster and coaching staff. If Buffalo makes a strong offer for a Day 2 draft pick, it may be an offer the Dolphins can’t afford to turn down, considering a multi-year rebuild is expected starting next March.
Waddle is just 26 years old and recently signed an $85 million contract extension that keeps him under contract through the 2028 season.
