You say the voice is constantly changing, so you take care of it every day. What does this process look like?
Right to the beginning I add: Life is a change, every moment is unique and different, as well as any meeting, every reason, every new experience… The experiences are so constantly and inevitably reflect in the body, in our speeches, including the artistic ones.
In everyday life of every opera singer, care is essential, the training must be constant. It is necessary to focus on vocal exercises daily, some kind of gymnastics for vocal cords, and then work on music scores, and you also have to think about technology, try to improve and learn from every mistake.
People of my profession have to have a discipline, completely similar to the one that the athlete is maintained to achieve the results. Taking care of my voice and studying is as important to me as maintaining fit. My whole body is my musical instrument.
To celebrate your 30th anniversary. The album Duets was released. You sing on it with Celine Dion and Lucian Pavarotti, Shanie Twain, Chris Stapleton and Karol G. In your work you can give space to the biggest voices. Is it even possible to determine the best voice you had in your career?
It is difficult for me to build a list, name specific names… I can confirm that I have always liked to search for co -workers, on stage and in the studio. In fact, it is a challenge that has fascinated me since the beginning of my career. I learned something from all colleagues. And some of some.
The duet is a bet that, when it comes out, creates an alchemy that highlights the quality of the tone and the expression of both artists. Given that you mentioned Luciana Pavarotti, I would like to emphasize that I consider a huge honor that I could sing with him and that we have discussed vocal technology over many occasions over the years. It was from him that I got many valuable advice.
And what kind of music usually plays in your home?
In our family, music is everywhere and we are often an active part of this process with children. We sing or play on piano and other tools, including the flute.
As a listener I prefer classical music, especially opera. At home, I listen mainly to the masterpieces of Puccini, Verdi, Mascagni, but also the repertoire of the French opera of the 19th century, to which I am very close.

In his free time he rides a horse.
So you all sing and like. Your son Matteo Bocelli is already an international star. Did you give him any advice at the beginning of his career?
When he was still a boy, I tried to help him set up a voice correctly. When he showed a desire to pursue this profession, I warned him, because the show business environment is more complicated and sometimes more merciless than imagined.
Now he is a mature professional with a clearly defined personality. He has shown this on many occasions, on his tour and in recent days in Teatro del Silenzio, Tuscany. I have been organizing a summer, expected concert for twenty years and where Matteo was a protagonist of the evening dedicated exclusively to him this year… He was a great success there.
We talk about music together all the time, and whenever possible, we also play together. And when it is desirable, I present my opinions.
Opera, classic music is what is passed from generation to generation. What place will it occupy and occupy in the 21st century? Are you an optimist or pessimist?
I am reasonably optimistic. I think that classical music in general, including the opera repertoire, will find its admirers among the next decades and among the next generations. Despite all the crises, as history has done enough, good music will not die. This does not mean that it is not possible to do more for its better spread and love, it is without exaggeration of the heritage of humanity.
The family is most important to you as you repeat. You also made a Christmas album with her. How much do you have to persuade to sing with you?
I think I had to persuade them very rarely. In the family of Bocelli, we all grew up on “bread and music” and we all consider it a “good girlfriend”. In addition, making music together with the people you love in the family, feeds the soul and create an atmosphere of peace and intimacy, which I personally consider invaluable.
And is it you who have the last word at home in this case?
I hate to impose something, also because there is no growth without dialogue and there is nothing good. Common music is an amazing metaphor for democracy, because it is an art based on harmony, the dialogue between the individual components… The last word is best together.
Is there anyone in your home who does not love music, but prefers, in Italian style, football?
We love music, we also love photoball (Against Inter Milan – note. red.). And we do not feel the need to prefer one over another, because we believe that there are two very different experiences. We consider music a gift from heaven, which serves to enhance the spirit and spread of good. Music opens our hearts, comforts us, excites us, makes us better people.
And football is not just the sport we watch with interest. It is a game that evokes enthusiasm, arena in which two teams imitate battles, show creative virtuosity, fall and get up, exhibit tribunes, ready for glory or defeat…
You also have a song with Ed Sheeran. How do you combine your voice with pure pop? Did it go smoothly?
We recorded more songs. If you ask about Perfect Symphony, I can say that everything started with his phone call, in which he suggested me to sing a new version of his big hit.

His enthusiasm, sincerity, along with the enthusiasm of my older children – both of his fans – convinced me to agree.
And where did it shoot?
First we worked remotely, then we met at my home in Tuscany and continued my recording studio. At first he wanted me to sing my part in a tenor’s voice, but I had a different opinion. In my opinion, a gentle song like Perfect Symphony is something you sing quietly and with emotion. In the end, we found a compromise that seems to like the audience. After this recording, friendship and new cooperation with me and my son Matte were created.
I also saw you singing here and there. Among other things, at Kim Kardashian’s wedding… How often do people call you with similar offers?
These offers are common and mostly welcome them. When I refuse the invitation, it is not because of unwillingness, but because of my charged work program. But if the application is compatible with the place where I am, I think it is always nice to contribute to the soundtrack such a joyful event as the wedding, where two people confirm their promise of love.
Let’s move to another location. You also have vineyards. How long is the tradition of your family as winemakers?
Our family produces wine by hand for generations. In the 18th century my ancestors were on a farm near Volterry in Tuscany. After being independent in 1831 – as the brand of our wine itself commemorates, they became landowners. My brother Alberto and I inherited the love, gratitude and respect for the ground that was born, as well as enthusiasm, especially for the vineyard we literally have in our genes.
In such a small business as ours, we manage to grow sustainability values without having to sacrifice the perfect balance of the aroma, taste and color.
Which wine would you recommend to our readers?
I would choose the three Terre di Sandro, Alcide and Edi, which is macerated in amphoras, and is unfiltered and dedicated to my mother. And then the second, no less brilliant trio: Prosecco Bocelli 1831, Igt Toscana Bianco and Igt Toscana Rosso.
The wine is also served to eat. Your daughter Virginia mentioned in one interview that you like to eat at home. Do you have any family dish that you all agree on?
In principle, we all prefer the salty over the sweet. On our table there is never a pasta with tomato sauce, vegetables from the garden, Tuscan cheese Pecorino or fragrant bread with real olive oil… So it is a style of eating that follows the so -called “Mediterranean diet”.
Let’s go from Italy to Prague. You are returning to us repeatedly. What awaits the audience in January 2026?
I love Prague, I admire its history and size. I have been visiting it for many years, always with joy and I have always been received here with great positive energy and love. I feel that I have built a strong and positive relationship with Prague – and actually with the whole Czech Republic. In addition, some orchestral recordings of my album Believe were made here.
Return to O2 arena, So I know well is for me as a meeting with expensive friends. With enthusiasm and with a little nervousness, I expect to see myself again with my audience, that I will be able to hug him again and share with him in the evening of beauty. It will include the repertoire I love the most, in the field of classical and pop music, and which I have grown and developed during more than thirty years of career.
