Ajmer Shines in state Lawn Tennis Championship, Top Teams Advance to Knockout stages
The 69th state-level lawn tennis competition has seen some thrilling team-based matches conclude, with Ajmer’s Under-19 girls emerging victorious.The Under-17 girls also secured a commendable second place. On the boys’ side, the Under-17 team clinched second, while the Under-19 squad finished third. With the team events wrapped up, the focus now shifts to the intense individual, doubles, and mixed doubles matchups.
According to Vijayalakshmi Sharma, Principal of the Central Girls School, the tournament’s host, the initial phase involved district-wise team competitions. Players were drawn against opponents from different districts through a lottery system.The top eight districts from each of the four categories will now battle it out in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events.
Here’s a breakdown of the top-performing districts in each category:
- Under-19 Girls: Ajmer (1st),Alwar (2nd),bikaner (3rd),jodhpur (4th),Bhilwara (5th),Kota (6th),Pali (7th),Shri Ganganagar (8th).
- Under-17 Girls: Jaipur I (1st), Ajmer (2nd), Pali (3rd), Jodhpur (4th), Banswara (5th), Udaipur (6th), Didwana Kuchaman (7th), Bikaner (8th).
- Under-17 Boys: Jaipur (1st), Ajmer (2nd), Udaipur (3rd), Jodhpur (4th), kota (5th), Jhunjhunu (6th), Hanumangarh (7th), Shri Ganganagar (8th).
- Under-19 Boys: Jaipur I (1st), udaipur (2nd), Ajmer (3rd), Bikaner (4th), alwar (5th), Pali (6th), Nagaur (7th), Jodhpur (8th).
Individual matches are scheduled for Sunday, with the tournament’s conclusion set for October 7th.
Boxing Competition Concludes, Closing Ceremony Today
In other sporting news, all matches for the ongoing Under-14 boxing competition at Government Mahatma Gandhi School Gandhi Bhavan Toppada have been completed. The closing ceremony is slated for Sunday morning on the school grounds. Ajmer South MLA Anita Bhadel is expected to attend as the chief guest.
Local Talent Shines in Bench Press Competition
Young athlete Rohit Rawat from Ladpura has made a significant mark at the first Rajasthan State Bench Press competition held in Jodhpur. Rawat secured both a gold and a silver medal, showcasing his dedication and talent. He is currently training under the guidance of coach Jai Singh Rawat.
