VVV-Venlo ran into a defeat in Leeuwarden on Sunday afternoon. On a visit to SC Cambuur, the Venlonaren lost 3-1. Only Gabin Blancquart managed to score on behalf of the Limburgers.

Strong start, but rapid backlog

The team of coach John Lammers started fiercely in the Cambuur Stadium. Via Nassim Ait Mouhou and Dean Zandbergen there were soon opportunities, but goals did not yield that. From the first danger of the home team it was immediately hit: Oscar Sjöstrand entered the 1-0 in the 15th minute. After that VVV got it difficult and Tony Rölke doubled the score for the break. To make matters worse, Driess Saddiki was injured, causing the Venlonaren to slide into the setup.

Cambuur continues

Even after the break, Cambuur remained the parent. Eight minutes after the break, the third goal fell through Ismaël Baouf, who headed a corner. VVV then tried to return to the competition, but the home team kept control.

Blancquart saves the honor

In the 64th minute, VVV did something back. After a pass from Philip Heise, Gabin Blancquart cleverly headed in and brought the score to 3-1. Despite invaders such as Evangelos Soferis, Layee Kromah and Bjorn van Zijl, VVV no longer managed to get closer. With that, the Venlonaren suffered their second defeat of the season.
