The victorious Dutchman is completely surprising in Formula 1: Max Verstappen, who was able to celebrate his last win in May in May, duped everyone at the Grand Prix in Monza in Monza with a recessed Red Bull racing car, on Saturdays and Sundays.
His team congratulated him on the Italian double, but the world champion will not be satisfied with that. Not after this triumphal trip, the fastest race in Grand Prix history (1: 13.23 hours), in which the McLaren pilots and World Cup favorites Lando Norris and Oscar Piatri looked like interns. In the overall ranking, Piatri is 31 points ahead of Norris, who is 63 points ahead of Verstappen. Ferrari’s honor is halfway restored by the fourth place of Charles Leclerc and the sixth of Lewis Hamilton.
The fastest round of each driven
Occasionally, a considerable gap in the World Cup brings something good with it. Verstappen, after the fastest round in Formula 1, not only went from the pole position to the Grand Prix of Italy, in contrast to the two McLaren drivers and current title candidates Norris and Oscar Piatri behind him, the Dutch also had little to lose to the European European class.
The defending champion also started, shot at the harassment at 600 meters after the start. In addition to him, partly already in the grass, attacker Norris, who was duplicate-was careful that World Cup leaders Piatri does not use the slipstream from behind and at the same time attack.
“What does the idiot do?”
You can imagine little more unpleasant situations, but Norris kept his nerves, even when he stapped it and then abbreviated the harassment. The Britx took a breath of his displeasure through radio: “What does the idiot do?” There doesn’t seem much left of the friendship of the two on the slopes. The leader suspected that he was wrong, and followed the instruction from the Red Bull command stand without complaint to give up the place to Norris in order to escape a punishment.
It was a rather lively affair in the early stages of the 75th Gran Premio in Monza, which went without German participation. Nico Hülkenberg had to turn back into the clean box after the introductory round-a hydraulic problem paralyzed his car.
The fight for third place was at least as intense as it was ahead. Charles Leclerc had grabbed Piatri right at the beginning, but the Australian took him back with a brave maneuver before the Monegasse could counter. Last year’s winner Leclerc dreamed of a new podium and defended against the attacker with a dancing rear.
The defending champion is back into play
It was much elegant in the struggle for the top, with the DRS overtaking aid, he left Norris practically in the fourth round and then gradually settled with free ride and unpostered air – with one fastest lap after the other. The driver and car, plagued by crises all summer, are no longer recognizable.
A new underbody and a simpler vehicle mood brought the defending champion back into play, the McLaren racing cars that had so far been so superior on this route were powerless, the curves in the royal park and the long straight robbed them of the advantage. Just a snapshot or a trend? The 27-year-old took advantage of the new feeling of freshness in Weidlich, but he also has plenty of catching up to do.
After six rounds, Piatri finally grabbed Leclerc, and from now on the distances between the top pilots stretched. However, Lewis Hamilton did the most places. During his first appearance with Ferrari in the Autodromo Nazionale, the record champion was handicapped by a starting point background, but he was already sixth in the seventh round, which gave him loan from the Italian fans and karma points for his own self-confidence. It would always go like that.
Karma points for Hamilton
After 37 of the 53 rounds, Verstappen was the first to change the tire to change the tire, so he wanted to continue checking the McLaren opponents. But they were long in coming, only wanted to counter with soft tires at the very end and speculated on a late neutralization of the race, and then had a strategic advantage.
She almost came when the supporting actors Carlos Sainz and Oliver Bearman collided, but both were able to continue. So an early decided race remained exciting until the end. Seven rounds before the end, Piatri came to the garages from the orange faction, colleague Norris sensed a disadvantage, but was calmed down, McLaren stayed with his team play.
However, there was still a change of position. The Brit, which had failed in the last race, had a technical bad luck. When changing tires, the wheel mother had to be readjusted at the front, he lost for many seconds – and now it was the internal competition that made the final phase exciting. For reasons of fairness, the Piatri team instructed the colleagues to leave the colleagues. The sportsman also made that a Verstappen would never have done.
The compromise: Both McLaren pilots had free travel on the last four rounds, but Norris easily drove home. An astonishing type of stable order, in the long run it will not work without trouble. Verstappen, who was already 20 seconds away from this duo, had already received the all -clear through radio: “The work is done. Bring it home, no more risks.” Significant answer: “Understood. No risk, but full throttle!”
