Unicaja Foundation: 50th Anniversary Sponsorship of Virgili Cádiz

Unicaja Foundation sponsors the Virgili Cádiz sports club one more. The institution supports the Gaditano Football Club that militates in the Second Division B of National Football.

The head of Unicaja Foundation in Cádiz, Javier Vela, has visited one of the first team’s training at the Mirandilla-Campo del Sur Pavilion facilities accompanied by its president, José Luis Botana.

The CD Virgili Cádiz currently has more than 130 players and 9 teams ranging from the baby category to the cadet in formative development through the Virgili Cádiz school; and from cadet to senior in federated category. The club celebrates its 50 years of existence this year and will play for the first time in history the Copa del Rey.

This agreement responds to the commitment that the institution maintains with the sport, both at the elite and base level, within its philosophy to promote essential values ​​for citizens such as the spirit of overcoming, effort, teamwork and, especially, a healthy lifestyle.

The uninterrupted support trajectory to the Andalusian sport by Unicaja Foundation already exceeds 45 years. The support of the institution extends to about thirty disciplines among which are basketball, athletics, water polo, handball, bádminton, chess, rugby, football, living room and rhythmic gymnastics, among others.

Virgili Cádiz Sports Club

The Virgili Cádiz sports club has completed in 2025 half a century of life since its foundation in 1975. The team currently plays in the Second Division B of National Room. After fifty years marked by unforgettable moments, the club opens a new stage in which professionalization becomes the great bet. The Cadiz talent will be the engine of a project that incorporates specialists in sports management, physical preparation, communication and marketing, with the aim of raising the competitive level and ensuring a high performance environment.

In addition, the Club will promote environmental sustainability programs, gender equality campaigns, inclusive activities for people with disabilities and actions against LGTbifobia. In addition, it will foster healthy lifestyle habits, support childhood at risk of exclusion, promote volunteering and collaborate with local entrepreneurs to boost Cadiz talent.
