It is not yet won but football supporters Europe (FSE) satisfying the decision of UEFA with satisfaction on the project to relocate the Liga and Serie A championship matches.
In the boxes for several months, the project of the Spanish and Italian federations provided in particular the holding of the match Villarreal-Barcelona on December 20 in Miami (United States) or AC Milan-Côme in February 2026 in Perth in Australia. However, the European organization, which brought together its executive committee this Thursday in Tirana in Albania, decided … not to decide. The executive committee of the European body “examined the requests” filed by the Spanish and Italian federations.
But “before achieving a final decision”, UEFA “will launch a series of consultations with all stakeholders in European football, including supporters” – whose representatives are clearly hostile to such a project.
“There are many questions to be resolved,” said the organization in a statement, while recognizing “that it is an important question and of increasing interest”.
Last week, UEFA boss Aleksander Ceferin recognized his limited room for maneuver with the Politico newspaper, while FIFA had to start last May – following a legal agreement with the giant of football rights – an overhaul of its rules prohibiting the championship matches abroad.
“We are not happy (relocation projects, note), but we have little latitude from a legal point of view if the two federations agree,” summarized the Slovenian leader.
In a separate press release, the Football Supporters Europe (ESF) organization “praised” the will to dialogue from UEFA, reiterating its position expressed last Wednesday in a text signed by more than 430 groups of fans from 25 countries.

“European football belongs to our stadiums, our cities, our communities: only one national match abroad is already one too much,” writes FSE, a position similar to that of the European Sports Commissioner, Glenn Micallef.
Faced with the quest for new markets -thus, for Milan -Côme, that the impossibility of using the San Siro stadium mobilized in early February by the opening ceremony of winter games -, supporters denounce a logistical and environmental aberration, as well as a sprained sports equity guaranteed by round -trip meetings.
