TSV Gnarrenburg: Slow Start to Badminton League Season

Badminton district league team TSV Gnarrenburg had imagined the start of the season very differently. Even more: “I can’t even remember that we started so badly,” said TSV player Axel Renken after only one point came out on the first match day. Risinger BSG Wallhöfe/Ihlpohl, on the other hand, drove one counter with two draws.

BV Verden – TSV Gnarrenburg 4: 4: With a double record of 2-1 victories, the Gnarrenburgers had actually started the game well. Above all, the women’s doubles around Manuela Renken and Christin Kästner literally outclassed his opponent in the 21: 5 in the first set. But then “the disaster” began, as Axel Renken put it. The Gnarrenburger did not win a single men. Christian Tiedgen said after his clear two-set defeat: “It was just bad.” Stefan Meyer only increased in the second set, but ultimately lost it (21:23). Axel Renken also simply played too faulty. However, he fought his way back into the game with the second round won and remained at eye level in the third set until 15:15 – until he had to be completely torn down (16:21).

Manuela Renken held TSV Gnarrenburg with her victory in the race and reduced to 3: 4. It was because of the Mixed double around Christian Tiedgen and Christin Kästner to get the draw, which the duo did impressively in the clear 21: 7 and 21: 7. “We can live very well with the point, we didn’t calculate much more against the title aspirant,” said Renken.

TSV Gnarrenburg – MTV Hanstedt 3:5: The fact that this game would take the closer like the first game “nobody could have guessed,” said Axel Renken. Again the Gnarrenburgers had a 2-1 double record, again all three men’s singles were lost, and again Manuela Renken held the team in the race.

The decisive difference: This time the mixed double failed. After a more competitive first set (17:21) there was nothing to get for Christin Kästner and Christian Tiedgen afterwards (9:21).

BSG Wallhöfen/Ihlpohl II – BSG Böhmetal 4:4: The climber, on the other hand, was able to rely on his singles. After the Landesliga reserve lost two of the three entrance doubles, she turned the tables with two individual successes by Arndt Petersen and Marie Bullwinkel. However, because both the mixed double and the final singles were lost, the BSG had to be satisfied with one point at the end.

SG Bröckel/Wathlingen – BSG Wallhöfen/Ihlpohl 4: 4: The mixed, this time with Arndt Petersen and Tanja Assmus, kept the upper hand, but here too there was a tie in the end. After the entrance doubles (2: 1), only Marie Bullwinkel was able to win their game, the other singles were all lost.
