TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO will open on October 3, 2025 in the opening game of Alvark Tokyo, a strong men’s professional basketball league and B League, in the home game (against Utsunomiya Brex). The new arena, which will be used as Alvark Tokyo’s home base this season, is scheduled to be used for a variety of purposes, including live performances by big-name artists and venues for the Professional Dance League D League, and the occupancy rate is confirmed to be almost 100% by the end of the year. The number of visitors attracts approximately 10,000 people in basketball (sports) and approximately 8,000 people in music and concerts.
At the construction site tour held in January, the presentation conveyed the image of the completion of the event, but at the media preview on August 28th, the full picture was right in front of us. When I visited various parts of the main arena, I was able to experience the structure that pursues ease of viewing and a sense of unity between the venue.
Designed optimized for watching basketball
TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO is an arena built to embody the desire that Alvark Tokyo has been fostering for many years since the start of the B League in 2016, “The team and facilities will increase the value of the club” (President Hayashi Kunihiko, president of the company). The plan was carried out with the premise that it would be the first B League club to be involved in the arena management, so the design is optimized for watching basketball (sports). With the restructuring of the B League, Sunrockers Shibuya, which is based in Tokyo, has also been decided to use it as a home court from the 2026-27 season, which will start as the “B Premier” season, and will become “the arena where Japan’s most basketball games are held” (President Hayashi) (30 home games per team in official B League games).
The location is Aomi, Koto Ward, in the Odaiba district of Tokyo, with a great view. Another major attraction is that it is within a 5-minute walk from the public transport station (4-minute walk from Shinko Yurikamome Aoumi Station and 5-minute walk from Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line). The structure of the arena itself is equipped with a hard surface that allows it to create an extraordinary space.
First of all, the auditorium seats are oval (elliptical)-shaped, which is the perfect shape for the court. The seats are designed to be easy to read, allowing you to enjoy the game without twisting your face or body from side to side, without any side twisting. Furthermore, as President Hayashi says, “The front row on the second floor of the National Yoyogi First Gymnasium, which has been used as a home court by Alvark Tokyo, here hits the height of the backmost seat on the top floor,” the top seat is also one floor of the building, making it a structure that is closer to the court than before. In fact, when I sat in the top seat on the top five floors, I felt the court was closer than in other arenas.
The seats that the audience can take over are made of cushioned leather seats in all 10,000 seats to increase satisfaction with the viewing and viewing experience. Other than courtside seats, the aisles are designed for convenience, and the cup holders are installed on the back of the front seats, so they place emphasis on comfort. Even when an adult man 175cm tall and weighing 75kg sits, he can feel a lot of room in both the left and right widths, front and back widths.
The video production featured one of the largest LED center hang visions in Japan, with a total area of over 1,000m square meters, and the first in Japan to have a ribbon vision of two layers of upper and lower. In particular, the upper ribbon is 2m wide, allowing cars and Alvark Tokyo’s mascot “Luke” to run around in real size, creating an unprecedented entertainment (the lower ribbon is 1m wide).
Other lighting equipment made by Panasonic, which has also been certified by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), and speaker system made by Germany, d&b audiotechnik, which is the largest configuration for domestic sports, delivers uniform, high sound quality throughout the arena, and is made up of hardware that “appealing to the five senses of the viewer” (President Hayashi).
Furthermore, as symbolizing one of the concepts, “open arena,” there are “spaces” in places that do not make you feel like you’re separated from the outdoors, and the design leaves an even more memorable impression on the audience than you might imagine. Especially the moment you walk through the entrance to the main gate and step into your foot, the center hang vision and court suddenly approach your vision, making it a smooth immersion from everyday life to extraordinary life.
Be sure to check out the wide variety of hospitality spaces!
The arena allows you to enjoy the game at any seat, but there are a variety of hospitality spaces that can be enjoyed in a more luxurious way, each one being unique.
First off, start from the first floor of the main arena.
TOYOTA PREMIUM LOUNGE provides the finest service in the arena. A live kitchen is attached to the lounge, where freshly prepared dishes will be served by the chef, and users will also be offering an in-seat service where special staff will carry drinks to the spectators after the game begins.
For core fans who want to feel the players up close, “PLAYERS LOUNGE” will be an irresistible section. You can see the players moving back and forth between the locker room and the court through the glass, making it a gem of space where players can share their excitement before the game and joy after victory with the players. It will also be a special experience to be able to feel the size of the players over 2m in person.
On the second floor of the main arena, there is “JAPAN AIRLINES TERRACE SUITE”, which offers the most luxurious viewing experience at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO. All six rooms have different designs, and are viewing suites with open-air terraces, located just 18 meters away from the court. You can also enjoy original craft gin provided by Japan Airlines as a flight service.
Additionally, the sports bar-style lounge “JAPAN AIRLINES LOUNGE” is a casual yet sophisticated lounge that allows for a more advanced viewing experience, with smooth travel to the audience, and you will be able to get a high level of satisfaction in both eating in the lounge and watching games.
On the third floor of the main arena, there are 16 rooms of “SUITE”, with 16 different basketball paintings painted by artist Tamura Dai in each room, and “CHAMPAGNE COLLET PARTY LOUNGE”, where a large group of 25 to 40 people can enjoy watching the game without hesitation.
And on this floor is the “FAMILY ROOM,” a great addition to families. The viewing seat facing the main bowl is a bench seat that is designed to be children, and behind it is a playroom separated by glass, which has a soundproofing effect. The space is now available to meet both demands of children playing casually, and adults wanting to watch the game, including two hours of games.
“SMBC SKY LOUNGE” on the 5th floor of the main arena is accessible to everyone and is an area where you can watch the game even if you are not seated. The outdoor terrace offers a panoramic view of Odaiba buildings and more.
Gourmet food and craft beer are also great. Outdoor space is also very comfortable
There are also plenty of restaurants in various arenas. The lineup includes a wide range of products, from Japanese cuisine directly from Toyosu Market to craft beer, from menus produced by players and cafes inspired by “Luke.”
In addition, consideration is given to efforts from a sustainability perspective, such as using 100% of renewable energy, installing solar power generation on the roof (covering 5% of the total electricity), and recycling all waste.
So far, we have touched on the specifications and services of the main arena, but this is part of TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO. In the outdoor space facing the canal in front of you, the adidas SPORTS PARK basketball court, made from reusing unwanted shoes, was installed. There are four goals set up, and anyone can use it not only for pre-match events, but also for events or games.

The free space on the left of the main gate, “Rental Nikken JOINT PARK,” is not only a place for visitors to relax, but also allows you to flexibly respond to each purpose, from kitchen car openings to various events.
TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO not only offers a space that pursues the ultimate sports experience and entertainment, but also creates a variety of value, including disseminating mobility technologies unique to the Toyota Motor Corporation Group. We’d also like to take a look at the future developments of the attractive arena that you should visit at least once.
