Thai Tennis Loss: China Wins World Tournament Final

The final of the simple gentlemen, also the most exciting match in this year’s world championship, took place last night (August 31) in Paris (France).

The match is a confrontation between Kunlavut Vitidsarn (Thailand, current Olympic vice-champion, world number 3) and Shi Yuqi (China, world number 1).

The match was exciting, with many spectacular lifts from the two players. During the first game, Shi Yuqi led 18-11 at one point, but Kunlavut Vitidsarn then excelled, winning 21-19. Kunlavut Vitidsarn temporarily led 1-0 to Shi Yuqi.

During the second set, Shi Yuqi left Kunlavut Vitidsarn no chance. The world number one Chinese marked with great regularity, before Shi Yuqi easily won the second set in the score of 21-10, equalizing at 1-1.

The third, decisive match was extremely exciting, worthy of a dream final. Kunlavut Vitidsarn led 8-3, Shi Yuqi equalized 8-8, leading 11-9. But Kunlavut Vitidsarn did not give up.

The two teams fought for each point, before Shi Yuqi won the last game 21-18, allowing the Chinese world number one to win 2-1 (19-21, 21-10 and 21-18).
