Tedesco to Fenerbahce: Replacing Mourinho | Schalke Ex-Coach News

Former Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco succeeds star coach José Mourinho at Fenerbahce Istanbul. As the Turkish football club announced on Tuesday, Tedesco signed a two-year contract on the Bosphorus.

The 39-year-old German-Italian Tedesco had started his career in Germany and, among other things, was a coach at Schalke 04 and RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. He trained the Belgian national team until January of this year, and since then he has been without employment.

Mourinho did not bring the hoped -for success

The traditional Turkish club Fenerbahce Istanbul had separated from Mourinho at the end of August after missing the Champions League. The Portuguese had been employed by the 19-time master since June 2024, but he did not bring the hoped-for success. Since then, a wide variety of successors have been discussed.

Last season Fenerbahce ended up in second place in the league – with a clear gap to the city rival Galatasaray.
