The first period was slightly nice where the team seemed to know each other. Both teams had played two matches each before the evening, and none of the teams had any points with them in tonight’s hit, so some nervousness may have existed.
The first sharp chance of the match had HV when a penalty was awarded after 13:19. Ellen Jonsson in the FBK box looked close and safe and had no problems saving.
A few minutes later, it was Färjestad who set up a good game, where the puck finally landed with Julie Gough who nicely put the puck in when with a direct shot. The guests to the lead at break after a largely even period where the shots were written to 9-9
Färjestad continued to have the initiative in the introduction of the second period. An early powerplay helped to put pressure on the home team, but despite a strong takeover during the first five minutes of the period, they only managed to create a really good opportunity. You got a chance again in powerplay, but again without dividend. Instead, Rae Breton went out for a tripping, and then Kennedy Bobyck was able to revenge himself from the missed penalty and the receipt was a fact. However, it would be the third time liked in PP for Färjestad when Paige McGuire was able to poke a return to 1-2 after 15:35. A position that held out the period.
After a tiring introduction to the final period, Färjestad took over more and more. They worked for another powerplay and in anticipation of blow -out, Paige McGurie stayed ahead and put his second and the team’s third after 6:03, this in game six against five.
HV71 was then given a lifeline after 7:30 when goalkeeper Ellen Jonsson went on two minutes for interference. However, a compact white box, together with Jonsson, took care of what came and sorted out the two -minute. Soon after, Annie Silén had a golden position to expand, but Stephanie Neatby made several nice rescues in the same situation. The same Neatby then left his bag of three and a half minutes left to play and HV began an intense hunt for goals.
With 1:16 left, Lene Tendes, after a shorter judge conference, stepped out for a puck-out and HV had to play six against four. But with a safe and stable defense game, and a phenomenal goalkeeping game by Ellen Jonsson, they were sorting it out and took the first three points in SDHL.
