Saint-André Archery Weekend | Events & Competition

Since 6 p.m., until 6 am tomorrow morning, the island’s archers come together in Saint-André for “the colossalles 12 hours of archery”. A friendly manifestation for enthusiasts in the discipline.

This Saturday evening, archery is in the spotlight. For 12 hours, the island’s archers meet at the Jean-Perrin gymnasium in Saint-André. The event is organized in relays. “”The archers are three per team, and will take turns for 12 hours. Each archer will perform a series before passing their relay. We are not very looking at, if an archer is tired, he can pass the relay. We are mainly here for conviviality“, announces Jean-Bernard Ellama, president of the club Les Archers du Colosse.

About fifty archers from Saint-André, Port, Plaine des Cafres, Saint-Leu, Saint-Denis and Saint-Pierre are expected from 6 p.m. in around fifteen teams for a festive and friendly moment before the start of the season. “”Our goal is to bring the island clubs to meet before the start of the competitive season. We want to show that it is not that performance, but also the fundamental principles of sport“, Details Jean-Bernard Ellama, President of the Les Archers du Colosse club.

Like every year, a theme is honored. This edition is devoted to “Asia in all its splendor”. “”Six countries will be represented: South Korea, India, Japan, China, Tibet and Thailand. Exhibitions dedicated to these nations will be on site“Explains the president of the club Les Archers du Colosse.
