Johan Derksen leaves no Spaan very much from Jan Streuer, the technical director of FC Twente on Thursday. The former footballer takes it up for the dismissed Joseph Oosting and calls him a ‘sincere’ and ‘honest’ man, among other things.
“Like the FC Twente trainer, who is also thrown out overly quickly,” begins Derksen. “The players, you notice that, they don’t understand anything about it. I don’t understand anything. It is a very sincere and honest man. Jan Streuer who is completely crazy in his old age and he has let go of his gut feelings. I think it is also dealing with the director who is there, because he is also involved in everything.”
Derksen is also not pleased with John van den Brom, the intended successor to Oosting. “Some points are lost, then sponsors and supporters will clear and think: I throw Oosting out and then they are sweet again. Then he comes with Van den Brom, that is an old boyfriend of him, because he has been an agent. I don’t think Van den Brom is a trainer who stimulates players, I think that is a dead.”
According to the former footballer, a job at FC Twente is a dangerous decision for every trainer. “I find it really incomprehensible that Streuer has been walking with his experience, because he has been running for a long time, has taken such an emotional decision under the pressure of the crowd. I wonder: a new trainer, realizes that it can also be the turn of three games.”
