A new independent music venue, “L’Ironwork,” has opened its doors in Jurançon, offering a fresh platform for emerging artists. following its initial concerts, the venue is set to host the Marseille-based quartet, La Flemme, on Thursday, September 25th, at 9 p.m.
Stéphane Sapanel, the venue’s programmer, describes La Flemme as a band with a name that belies their powerful sound. He characterizes them as a flashy hurricane that comes to shake the French musical landscape, carrying everything in its path in a deluge of Pop garage sounds and psychedelic textures.
Their debut album, La Fête
, released on April 25th, has positioned them as a meaningful force on the French rock scene, fueled by an unbridled energy.
“A group with a deceptive name,” assures the programmer of the place, Stéphane Sapanel, who speaks of them as “a flashy hurricane which comes to shake the French musical landscape, carrying everything in its passage in a deluge of Pop garage sounds and psychedelic textures.”
Joining La Flemme on the same evening will be the Yees Basketball trio. Sapanel notes that this group crosses, transforms, transcends, slides from one genre to the other with ease and elegance.
He further elaborates, If the song can often evoke the best of The Streets, it also cheerfully spans the Atlantic towards Kendrick Lamar or the Beastie Boys.
Looking ahead, the venue will feature a double bill on Friday, October 10th, with Not Scientists and This Will Destroy Your Ears. Not Scientists are returning with their new album, Voices
, which emphasizes diverse experimentation. This Will Destroy Your Ears will be presenting their third album, Funland
, slated for release on the same day. Inspired by trips to the English seaside, notably Blackpool, the album’s title reflects a faded, dreamlike amusement park atmosphere.
The month of October concludes on Friday, October 31st, with performances by Swirls and Barge.
