Quindians Shine: Badminton Tournament Debut Success

The Quindians Lucía Barrios and Isabel Ospina had a successful debut in the International Future Series of Badminton, an international contest that takes place in Bucaramanga with the presence of delegations of America, Asia and the Caribbean. In their first departure in the individual modality, both of them won that allowed them to advance in the direct elimination box: Barrios won a player from Panama, while Ospina defeated a representative of Chile, thus ensuring an encouraging start for the two athletes who carry the name of the department and Colombia.

With this good start, Lucía and Isabel are concentrated in their next meetings, where they will seek to continue adding victories with their eyes on the podium. Similarly, they will face their first challenge in the women’s doubles mode, where they stand out for their rapport and strength as a duo, which generates high expectations of a positive result.

Olga Fernández, president of the Quindío Bádminton League, highlighted the performance of athletes and institutional support: “The participation of Lucía and Isabel is possible thanks to the constant support of Indortes Quindío and its director, Camilo José Ortiz, who has been committed to strengthening these sports processes.”

The work in Bádminton within the department continues to consolidate, and the international experience represents a fundamental fogueo for the National Games. These competences allow athletes to accumulate level and trust, reinforcing the objective that this discipline is the protagonist in the next national event.

The advances of neighborhoods and Ospina in the tournament ratify their projection as emerging figures of the Badminton in the region and confirm the sustained growth of this sport in Quindío. With international results and institutional accompaniment, the department continues to position itself as a hotbed of talent and discipline.
