BarcelonaPuigdemont’s movement in the TC has not only puzzled members of the high court, but also several leaders of Together, who have not seen the virtue of delaying the decision on the appeal of the amnesty. In the midst of bewilderment, however, there are sources that give two possible explanations.
The first is that attorney Gonzalo Boye does not trust what the TC members can decide at the last minute and want to raise recusal in the three conservative magistrates in case, he must eventually end up in the European Court of Human Rights, alleging lack of impartiality in the plenary.
And the second is that on Tuesday the TC also had to reject the precautionary measures requested by the former president, that is, he had to deny the immediate removal of the arrest warrant against Puigdemont. An end that has now been postponed and that gives a little more time to negotiate between Together and the PSOE. If Puigdemont could immediately return thanks to the CC, Pedro Sánchez probably saved the legislature.
The point is that, so far, everything that has transcended the Constitutionalist is that the magistrates do not go along this path, because – they say – a decision like this would be to advance the fund of the final sentence, but also because they would enter a direct and unpublished confrontation with the Supreme Court. Everything aims, then, that in the meantime the PSOE will continue to lose key votes.
