PSG Stadium: Poissy Committee Discusses Access & Mobility

Paris Saint-Germain is laying the groundwork for a monumental shift, aiming to build a new, state-of-the-art stadium that could catapult the club into a new dimension. With the Parc des Princes feeling increasingly cramped, PSG is eyeing a massive new home, with capacities ranging from 60,000 to a staggering 90,000 seats. This week marks a crucial step as the club dives deep into discussions with two potential host cities for this ambitious project.

The European powerhouse kicked off its series of local steering committees on Tuesday,September 23rd,in Poissy, located in the Yvelines department. The follow-up meeting is already slated for Thursday, September 25th, in Massy, Essonne.

Presiding over the initial meeting was Victoriano Melero, the Director General of Paris saint-germain. He was joined by a host of regional dignitaries, including the Mayor of Poissy, Sandrine Dos Santos, the President of the Ile-de-France regional council, Valérie Pécresse, and deputies Pierre Bedier and Karl Olive.

Melero emphasized the collaborative spirit driving this initiative, stating in a press release, The launch of this first steering committee illustrates the club’s desire to advance transparently and collectively with all stakeholders. He added, I am delighted that all the actors responded to the invitation of Paris Saint-Germain: elected officials and representatives of the State, on each territorial scale-regional, departmental, inter-municipal and municipal. Their mobilization testifies to the interest in this project, which can only be designed and lead with them. Our ambition is clear: to build a stadium fully integrated into its territory.

During this inaugural session, discussions centered on the selection of massy and Poissy as the primary study sites and the ongoing pre-feasibility studies that commenced in June. PSG highlighted that this phase involves a broad spectrum of experts and local partners who are integral to the process. The club also outlined the project’s overall management structure and the key areas requiring further in-depth analysis, such as accessibility, mobility, and community impact. Participants underscored the importance of ensuring the project generates value for the region, contributes to its dynamism, and integrates seamlessly into the urban and social fabric.

These steering committees, led by Paris Saint-Germain, will convene regularly to guide the studies and address the critical factors necessary for hosting such a important project.

The club’s next engagement is scheduled for Thursday in massy.
