PSG Injury Update: Champions League Boost

The European champion Paris Saint-Germain will not be as decimated as initially feared when the defense of his title of the Champions League begins.

The PSG extended its perfect start in Ligue 1 with a fourth consecutive victory over the weekend, but the victory was tarnished by the injuries of Khvicha Kvarathskhelia, Lee Kang-in and Lucas Beraldo. The three were forced to leave the field.

However, the club reported Tuesday, on the eve of receiving the Atalanta of Italy, in the Park of the Princes, which only Beraldo remained “under treatment” after a sprained of the left ankle.

The update was a relief for the PSG, which will miss the strikers Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué for the match.

The coach Luis Enrique said that Lee was available while the condition of Kvarathskhelia will be evaluated again. The end was injured a calf on Sunday during the 2-0 victory against Lens.

“With Kvara we need to see how he feels after training,” said Luis Enrique at a press conference.

The PSG was consecrated in the Champions League in May by beating Inter Milan 5-0, the most bulky result in a final.

Outside the injuries, the PSG has had a great beginning of the new season. They rose with the UEFA Super Cup by beating Tottenham.

Luis Enrique said that winning a second consecutive champions League is an objective that is available.

“I think getting the first Champions League is always the most difficult,” said Luis Enrique. “Sometimes, players and fans do not think they are able to win such a trophy. Now they know that it is possible. We are able to win the Champions League. Of course, it will be difficult, but I hope that with the mentality we have we can improve and have a great season.”

Luis Enrique is among the technicians who have won the Champions League with multiple clubs. He did it with Barcelona in 2015.
