New structure takes shape

With Peiper (65), Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe is building a completely renewed framework. Sporty manager Rolf Aldag and team leader Enrico Gasparotto already disappeared, while Sven Vanthourenhout – in the wake of Evenepoel – was attracted as a team leader. In addition, Zak Dempster switched from Ineos Grenadiers, where he will play the role of Head of Performance.

The riders also gets reinforcement. In addition to Evenepoel, Gianni Vermeersch also comes from Alpecin-DECEUNINCK, while the talents get Callum Thornley and Luke Tuckwell their chance. Outgoing transfers have not yet been announced.

Experience and comeback

Peiper brings a lot of experience. He drove for Peugeot and Panasonic in the 1980s, and booked victories in the Giro d’Italia, Paris-Nice and the Critérium du Dauphiné. As a team leader he was active at Davitamon-Lotto, T-Mobile, Columbia-highroad, Garmin and BMC. Later he worked at UAE Team Emirates, where he played a key role in the first two Tour victories of Tadej Pogacar.

However, his career had a serious kink due to health problems. After prostate cancer was diagnosed with him and the disease later spread to lungs and bones, Peiper had to put down his work in 2022. Now he seems ready for a comeback in cycling, although his appointment at Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe has not yet been officially confirmed.
