Dal 22 to 24 August 2025 Cividale del Friuli, in the province of Udine, hosted the Palio di San Donato, three days of celebration in which the streets and squares of the Friulian city have turned into a large medieval scenario, with Costume fashion shows, races between villages, shows and markets. It is a widespread event, which revolves around the trophy between the villages, with the neighborhoods of the city that challenge each other in a traditional stage running race. But Friuli is not only land walker: it is also and above all a land of swords and warriors. It was born here Flower of the Liberione of the fathers of Italian fencing, and its deeds have been re -proposed in various events dedicated to young and old. Other events related to ancient weapons are the XVII Tournament Commander Markan itinerant international race of shooting with the historical arch, and the range of crossbow shooting, interspersed with short historic notes on the art of archery and crossbow by the Historical Group Forojuliense. Both of these events took place on Saturday 23 August.
