Criminals pretend to be power companies and represent users, beware of bill deduction fraud

The New Jersey Public Affairs Commission (NJ BPU) issued a warning Tuesday (August 26) that scammers claim to “help” electricity users get a $100 bill deduction. NJ BPU said they have received a large number of user complaints, saying the criminals pretend to be representatives of the power company and claim to assist users in applying for the deduction and use it to request personal and financial information. NJ BPU stressed that this deduction is done automatically and that the user does not need to take any action and there will be no representatives contacting the user to request registration for the project. If you receive a similar scam call, please hang up immediately and call 1-800-624-0241 to complain.

New South Wales School District postpones school year

The Pleasantville Public School District, New Jersey, recently approved the postponement of school hours in the new school year, changing high school from 7:45 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., junior high school from 8:05 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and elementary school from 8:50 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. The school said that the opening of school late is beneficial to students’ academic performance. This arrangement has also been strongly supported by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. But many parents objected, worried that time changes would affect their work and increase childcare costs. One of the biggest challenges for schools that postpone class hours is to arrange school bus schedules.

New Jersey baseball star died in a car accident

22-year-old NSW baseball star Nick. Nick Danbrowney died in a car accident in North Carolina. The Ramapo College star pitcher just signed with the Bakersfield Train Robbers in California in June to join the Independent Professional League Pecos League.

Team manager Bill Rogan said that Dan Brownie’s death shocked the whole team: “We are extremely sad. Although we go our separate ways after the season, we are still as close as our family. This news is unacceptable. Nick is a gentleman off the court, with talent and a bright future. We love him deeply and will never forget him.” In order to support Dan Brownie’s family, the community launched a GoFundMe crowdfunding, which has raised more than $32,000.
