Lukas Neumayer delivers the match of his life at the Davis Cup in Debrecen and defeats the favorite Marton Fucsovics in three sets. With the victory, Austria places 2-0.

Dream start against the veteran
The 23-year-old Neumayer got a perfect start. With a powerful baseline game, he put the much more experienced Fucsovics under pressure from the start and secured the first round with 6: 3. Especially with the backhand, he managed to control the long rally and to force Fucsovics into the defensive. The mood in the hall cooked early, and Neumayer played as if inspired.
Fucsovics strikes back
In the second set, a duel developed at eye level. Neumayer held against it for a long time, but from the 3: 3 Fucsovics attracted the pace noticeably. The Hungarian hit almost every ball, dominated the rallies with its forehand and after almost 50 minutes won the set 6: 3. Neumayer could not neutralize the forehand of the opponent and lost some control. The compensation was deserved.
A third sentence full of twists
Neumayer, however, could not be discouraged and started the decision set furiously. An early break to 2-0 and a service to 3-0 set a sign before Fucsovics took a medical timeout due to foot problems. After that, the match was wild: Neumayer gave a break ball to the possible double break at 3: 0, then lost the serve himself and had to accept the 3: 3 compensation. At 4: 4 he gave up his serve again, but immediately countered with a rebreak. The match weighed back and forth.
Triumph im Tiebreak
The decision was finally made in the tie -break, in which both players threw everything into the rallies. Neumayer kept their nerves in the many long rally, played bravely and always scored with his strong forehand along the line. After over two and a half hours he converted his third match ball and won 6: 3, 3: 6, 7: 6. With this coup, Neumayer ensured the 2-0 leadership of Austria after Jurij Rodionov had previously triumphed about Fabian Marozsán.
