Modern Pentathlon: Leadership Dispute & Change

The German Association for Modern Pentathlon (DVMF) has a new board. At the Association Day in Frankfurt, the DVMF determined Jan Langrehr and Lutz Keister for new Vice President on Sunday, as participants confirmed. The team replaces the emergency board from Jan Veder and Leonard Langenkamp ordered by the Darmstadt district court in May. Shortly before the association day, Veder had surprisingly announced not to stand for the management position. Barbara Oettinger, who had previously been traded as Veder’s competitor, was also not a vote. Instead, the now selected solution was drawn up in a “break”, which lasted about five hours, said athlete spokesman Patrick Dogue. “It was a difficult thing. I believe that it was done very well.”

The selected management duo is two representatives of the competing camps that have formed in recent months. The DVMF has been divided since April at the latest after Oettinger and Veder had been chosen as leadership on two different association days. After the Federal Ministry of the Interior stopped paying funding, the emergency board was appointed. The question of the status of Dogue and his co-active representative Rebecca Langrehr was not clarified. A few days ago, the DVMF published a message that Amaya El-Masri and Moriz Klinkert had been elected to their successors. However, this election was controversial, and according to Dogue, the confirmation at the Association Day failed to materialize on Sunday, which is why he and Langrehr were still officially in office.
