Mindaugas Kiera Death: Lithuanian Hockey Legend Dies at 45

On Saturday, Lithuania was overwhelmed by a mourning message – one of the national hockey symbols at the age of 45, the long -time team guard Mindaugas Kiera.

According to the Delfi.lt portal, the main police commissariat of the Utena region said on Sunday that on Saturday, August 30, around 16.05 From the Šventoja River near the village of Kavarsk, the Anykschi district, divers and rescuers highlighted the body of a man born in 1980. A pre -trial investigation process has been launched to determine the circumstances of death.

Firefighters explained that a call had been received for a man who jumped out of the kayak but had no longer floated. The man’s body was found about 150 meters from the scene. The exact circumstances are currently being explained and the police do not provide more information in the interest of the investigation.

Mindaugas Kiera was a unique figure in Lithuanian sports – the only national hockey player who represented a national championship for 20 years (1999-2018). The guard played 100 games overall.

Kiera’s contribution to hockey and the inspirational example will remain in vivid memory of sports fans and colleagues.
