VIK won 5-2 (last in empty box) against Södertälje on Friday night. It became an offensive icing for Konstantin Komarek with a full four points (2+2) and three points (1+2) for Kim Rosdahl in the first chain.

First period
0-0 after the first period which was a step forward in the VIK offensive regarding creating more time in the attack zone and forcing SSK into expulsions.
But only 2-0 chances fold in game 5-on-5, 3-3 in pp chances. Started directly with a strong change of Komarek and Rosdahl where the latter found inserts and chance Sjögren, who then worked out PP, but weak there in the first PP trial.
Komarek took an expulsion in attack zone but BP worked well. Some good attacks, including junior hill Max Joona who found Lion and Karlsson and good chance Lundgren.
Edge and fourth worked well and fixed that new PP. OK intentions in PP and Rosdahl burned a lot of time on return.
Ride -struck Mylläri fixed a new PP, but Rosdahl took a deportation in the attack zone. As I said, step forward offensively, but also need to be generated more chances and better shooting was also needed – which we would also see the last 40.
Second period
Small icing offensively and 3-1 in others. 5-5 chances game 5-on-5.
Continued better attack and Rosdahl set 1-0 from distance after good network presence Sjögren, Komarek also involved after many good workouts.
The first chance for SSK in 5-on-5 actually came as late as four minutes into the second.
Kvist served lions free, but boom. Pigg Pantzare dropped well and chance for uneven Friberg.
Jansson active and fixed a PP. Sjödin struck PP chance for Gradin.
2-0 in PP after good play by Oschgan and Komarek showed the class when he twisted backhand to Jakobsson who netted at the free situation.
Sjödin leaks a small pass where Gradin showed her shot, which is feared when it is true, and 3-0. Also good long pass of more distinct Jansson.
After 3-0 very Södertälje and 3-1 during awaiting expulsion.
Third period
Komarek was really hot and was behind a new chance for Sjögren early in the third.
3-2 though after Kvist did not get the puck deep, and on game turn, Oschgan released a weak return straight out and open goal SSK.
Komarerek New vicious Insert that Rosdahl blew on a new heavy shot. But SSK created a lot in the third and then won the chances with 2-8 games 5-on-5.
4-2, however, came in a game turn after strong play by Rosdahl in his own zone and the same guy then released the puck perfectly to Sjögren right on blue. The latter then showed the newly acquired offensive feeling when he found Komarerek centrally and #67 was clinical in the end.
Then a lot of SSK but VIK kept away. Jakobsson and Rosdahl were strong and won a puck so Komarek could put 5-2 in empty box.
SUMMARY
It was a clear step forward for the offensive. The fine intentions from the first period paid the last 40 goal.
But despite the fact that passing plays and time in the attack zone were much better, there was not violent a lot of chances, 9-13 to Södertälje in game 5-on-5, however, SSK was obviously chasing in the last.
However, the chances of increasing in number if VIK can continue to move the puck in this way will continue.
Before Rosdahl’s 1-0, for example, there were many nice passes in a row. It is precisely that characterizes good teams. That is, how many good passes you can perform without the opponents being able to break.
Firm Rosdahl & Komarek was really good all over the ice and as leading as they have to be in terms of investments and ice time they get.
If they continue like this, VIK has the foundation for a real first chain. So Komarek scored 2+2 for four points, even flawlessly with 9-0 in NP.
Rosdahl continued to impress the whole ice with 10-1 in NP, very strong even in close matches and as a brand new player in the passing game now under Peter Andersson. Malte Sjögren did a good day job, with actually two nice passes in the third period and 5-2 in NP.
Otherwise, there were smooth and good efforts in the other three chains that have now been over time. It should be possible to get together four completely okay chains that can spin if you do not suffer damage to the series.
On the back side, Mylläri (6-1) and Jansson (8-3) were the leading back pair, and so it will also be in the series.
Sam Thörnqvist stood for a solid almost flawless effort (2-1), with good support from Folin which makes many small smart road-winning stuff in the defensive.
Lundgren also stabilizes Pennerborn, but you might want to see a little more offensive from the young slope only when there is also PP there.
Sure, SSK missed six experienced plays, but at the same time they have a much broader team from the beginning and have little to take off.
VIK can hopefully broaden and tip the rather thin squad, which despite some gaps on the paper on the forward side has now shown some positive vibes during the preseason.
Tim Friberg paid tribute to Peter Andersson before the match on TV. So far, the coach has not disappointed anyone despite the high expectations of PA.
As any player said who was with last year at this time: “The so much better structure nowadays”.
And it is really visible, now even maybe offensively. Peter Andersson’s team machine is probably starting to take shape. In any case, it is better to win two training matches against Södertälje than the other way around.
Self -confidence in the start of the series got a refill and it needs this previously broken bunch.
