Koeman Praises Netherlands Newcomer’s Debut

Sem Steijn can probably make his debut for the Dutch national team on Sunday. The captain of Feyenoord still had to take a seat against Poland, but Ronald Koeman probably absorbs him against Lithuania in the competition selection.

That is what the national coach hinted according to De Telegraaf. Steijn makes a good impression on the training sessions of Orange, where he certainly does not fall out of tone football. “Steijn can play football at the level of the internationals,” says Koeman. “Of course he really has a quality in scoring. Steijn is a player who has returns. I know if he is going, but I am not going to say that yet.”

Steijn was called for the first time for Orange, after he made the switch from FC Twente to Feyenoord this summer. The Rotterdammers paid around ten million euros for the Eredivisie top scorer of the past season. He started energetically in De Kuip. Robin van Persie immediately appointed him captain and he scored twice in five official duels.

The Netherlands will face Lithuania on Sunday evening. The kick -off in Kaunas is at 6 p.m.
