FOUR Indonesian badminton players officially came out of the PBSI Pelatnas in 2025. One of them was Jonatan Christie.
The shocking decision was taken by a number of Indonesian badminton players. They decided to continue their careers professionally so that they left the PBSI Pelatnas.
This step was even taken by players who are still the mainstay in the PBSI Pelatnas. Of course, there are special reasons behind it. So, who are they?
Here are 4 Indonesian badminton players officially out of PBSI Pelatnas in 2025:
1. Jonatan Christie

One of Indonesia’s official badminton players came out of the PBSI Pelatnas in 2025 was Jonatan Christie. The decision was announced on May 15, 2025.
Jonatan admitted that the decision to resign had been carefully thought out. The focus factor on the family is the main reason Jonatan out of the national training.
“If I may tell a little, actually this beginning started from after the Olympics. Indeed, at that time all were committed, I committed, the family was also committed,” Jonatan said in a press conference at the PBSI Pelatnas Cipayung, Thursday, May 1525.
“We all have given the best and best. To prepare ourselves to the Olympics. But short story, yes maybe the results are still unsatisfactory and honestly I am also honestly rather not satisfied with these results,” he added.
“So that there were some thoughts at that time that made me quite quite confused. Had crossed my mind at that time when the moment of losing at the Olympics wanted to stop completely from badminton that had occurred to it like that,” he continued.
“Finally, I tried to make a decision as a pro player. I dare to also to PBSI. I am grateful from PBSI to listen to my condition at that time,” explained Jonatan.
Jonatan’s decision became a big surprise at that time. Because, the player who is familiarly called Jojo is still the best men’s singles today. He occupies the highest position in FIFA’s current ranking, which is perched in fifth.
2. Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo

At the same time, there was one other men’s singles who also resigned from the PBSI Pelatnas. He is Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.
Chico said his decision to resign was taken because he wanted to try out new experiences. Chico also confirmed that his resignation from the PBSI Pelatnas was not due to the pressure of the lack of achievement. Since a few months ago, Chico has also thought about taking a professional path.
“This is also not an easy decision to practice outside because before, the same as Ko Indra (Wijaya) had a new road map discussion. But back again, I wanted to try the experience of training outside and trying to play pro, of course in the auspices under PBSI,” Chico said at a press conference on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
