In Radio Corsa, the Italian cycling journalist Beppe Conti has again caused a stir with striking transfer rumors. Not only would Egan Bernal be in the picture with Visma Lease A Bike, Jonas Vingegaard would also think about a departure towards UNO-X Mobility.
According to Conti, Egan Bernal, until the end of 2026 under contract with Ineos Grenadiers, would consider a transfer to Visma Lease a Bike. The Colombian showed this season recovery after his major accident in 2022, with a seventh place in the Giro and a stage victory in the Vuelta.
Giro d’Italia
Bernal could get a place in the climbing core at Visma Lease a Bike, with a view to the Giro d’Italia of 2026, according to Conti. There he should support Vingegaard, who, according to Conti, sets his sights on that round.
The Dutch team still has two open places in the selection for 2026, and Bernal would be a logical addition given his experience in large rounds. His arrival would reinforce Visma in the fight against competitors such as Pogacar, who, according to Conti, also aims for the Giro.
Vingegaard thinks of UNO-X and farewell
More remarkable is Conti’s claim that Vingegaard is considering leaving Visma within the foreseeable future. According to the Italian journalist, the dual tour winner and recent Vuelta-Laureate would dream of a switch to UNO-X Mobility, the Norwegian team with strong Danish input. “He would say goodbye to Visma and close his career in the UNO-X shirt,” said Conti.
Speculation
Conti claims that Vingegaard has been thinking for some time about a switch to a team with national identity. “He thought of a farewell at the age of 32,” says Conti, “but if he succeeds in knocking Pogacar in the Giro or Tour, he would advance that moment.” The suggestion is that a victory in 2026 could lead to an early departure at Visma.
Although Conti has been active as a cycling journalist for decades, he is known for his speculative transfer news. Nevertheless, his rumors are picked up broadly, partly due to the reputation of the riders involved.
