Ji So-Yu: Reign to Birmingham City Transfer

The former Chelsea midfielder Ji So-Yun will return to England to play at the Birmingham City with a short-term contract from the Seattle Reign.

Ji played for Chelsea for eight years, winning 13 important trophies, including six WSL titles, between 2014 and 2022.

“I really want to play again in England,” Ji said. “I like the ambition of the club and I hope to help Birmingham on his way to promotion and offer exciting football to the fans. I come here to win.”

After leaving Chelsea in 2022, Ji played at the Suwon FC of the South Korean First Division before joining Reign in January 2024, where he played 41 games in all competitions. He started in nine of the 18 club games at the NWSL that season.

The 34 -year -old is a legend in her native country, South Korea, where she has the historical record of more appearances with 169 international games and the largest amount of goals with 74.
