Former NBA player and first active player to have talked about his homosexuality in the United States, Jason Collins is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.
It has been over ten years since the ex-pivot has left the prosecution. Known not only for its solidity in defense but also for having marked history by breaking a taboo in American sport, Jason Collins has become a benchmark for the LGBTQ+ community when he completed his coming out, thus becoming the first NBA player to do so. His career, punctuated by 13 seasons in the NBA with the Nets, the Hawks and other deductibles, inscribed it permanently in the memory of the fans.
Now 46 years old, the former player has to face a new reality. The American League has confirmed that Jason Collins is currently undergoing medical treatment and asked, on behalf of his family, to respect his intimacy. Drafted in 2001 by the New Jersey Nets, Collins played 735 games in the League.
