Italy Defeats Brazil: Women’s Volleyball World Cup Exit

Italy beat Brazil in the semifinal of the Women’s Volleyball World Cup and secured a place in the big decision of the tournament played in Thailand.

In the final the Italians will face the Turkey team, which beat Japan in the other semifinal. This will be the first time in history that Turkish will play a World Championship final.

The final will take place this Sunday (7), at 10:30 am, at the Huamak Arena.

The game

Brazil started the game against the Italian team well. Under the screams of “Brazil, Brazil” from the Thai fans, the commanders of coach José Roberto Guimarães made 25-22 in the first set.

Italy returned better for the second set and beat the Brazilian team by the same score: 25-22.

In the third set, Bangkok’s stands “trembled” with a 30-28 electrifying for Brazil. The game went to the fourth set with the possibility of Brazil closing the game, but that’s not what happened.

With 25-22, the Italians took the game to the Tie-Break.

In the decisive set, Italy showed superiority and closed the game with 15-13. Egonu defined the decisive rally of the set that gave the victory to the Italians.
