Oscar Gloukh – playing as left winger in the fishing village – was collected during the break. Afterwards, Heitinga announced in the small press room of the Kras Stadium that he believed that the Israeli attacker was not playing well. Oliver Edvardsen was his replacement.
“I just thought Oscar was insufficient. I could have changed more in the first half. I also had to deal with Mika Godts. I said to Raul Moro: you get 15 minutes. Because I wasn’t satisfied with him either.”
Painful texts and a bit easy to explicitly mention two purchases. It is precisely such players that you can – I think – to protect a bit. Exactly these players were not achieved for their duel power and others need to excel.
Heitinga could also have chosen to appoint experienced players such as Wout Weghorst, Kenneth Taylor, Davy Klaassen or Steven Berghuis. You can expect more from this player, but were totally invisible in Volendam. Players like Berghuis, however, seem to be tackled with satin gloves.

Reserve captain Berghuis takes the team far too little at hand. In Volendam, after good return from Moro, he could have opened the score after five minutes. That made it much easier for his team. And those free kicks? They never hit the goal.
After that we didn’t see Berghuis anymore. And not Taylor either. And not Weghorst either. And Klaassen barely after his raid. Yet Gloukh and Moro were mentioned by name. Especially the sentence that Moro still received 15 minutes from his trainer. Why do you say that to the press?
The trainer talked about things like not withdrawing your leg, spitting in your hands and win duels. In contemporary football these are certainly important things, but Ajax must normally be superior to the ball in Volendam.
That was not the case. The fact that the Heitinga Duels team had to fight out was mainly due to walking pace, painfully slow ball circulation and little ingenious attack game. Then you automatically end up in situations in which it comes to duel power.
It’s a bit one Kip-en-notl. Heitinga stated that it all starts with winning your duels. It could also be that it starts with ensuring that you do not end up in those duels at all. But unfortunately this Ajax is not that far yet.
