The first match in qualifying for Uefa Women’s Champions League between BK Häcken and Atlético Madrid ended 1-1 after an eventful evening at Hisingen. The second and decisive match will be played on Thursday next week in Madrid.
Atlético Madrid took command from kick off and steered the first half with his ball possession and precise passing game. It gave results in the 17th minute when the team got their first corner. Vilde Bøe Risa hit the ball, which was noddled by Sheila García to Luany – who chilly placed 0-1 behind Jennifer Falk.
The Spaniards continued to press and created a total of ten goal chances in the first half, compared to the two of Häcken.
After the break, Häcken came out with new energy and moved up the game. Despite several hazards, it was Atlético who continued to create the hottest chances – but Falk stood for several important rescues and kept his team in the match.
However, the receipt would come – and that with a message. In the 86th minute, Häcken breaks a play high up the track. After an estimate from Paulina Nyström, Schröder gets the ball and sees that goalkeeper Lola Gallardo is far out. With an elegant lifting from distance, she places 1-1, a real class goal.
