Gourdon Tennis Court: New Courts Open!

The municipal tennis court built in the 1970s, was completely refurbished. The mayor of Milhac, Claude Vigié, had invited the summit of the department for its inauguration: Claire Raulin, prefect of the lot; Amel Tir, sub-prefect of Gourdon; Jean-Marc VAYSSOUZE-FAURE, Senator of the Lot; Aurélien Pradié, deputy for the lot; Frédéric Gineste, vice-president in the department; Jean-Marie Courtin, president of the CCQB and mayor of Gourdon, Jean-Michel Beaussart, commander of the gendarmerie of Gourdon; Jean-Michel Gabet, mayor of Rouffilhac, Michel Combes, mayor of Saint-Cirq-Souillaguet, the members of the Milhac Municipal Council, the sportsmen of the tennis club and the inhabitants.

The reconstruction of the tennis court was funded by: the State within the framework of DETR, for € 11,865; The Departmental Council of Lot € 7,910, the Regional Council, € 6,430; The municipality of Milhac: € 13,345, or 30 % of the total cost.

During their speech, the authorities joined the positive impact of a rural tennis court. A real asset for local life, they underlined unanimously. Much more than just sports equipment, it is a real catalyst for dynamism, creating links and strengthening social fabric. The tennis court becomes the meeting and anchor point of a community. As for sporting and associative benefit, it offers young and old an opportunity to practice regular physical activity without having to move.

The tennis club is managed by dedicated volunteers who organize friendly tournaments and courses for all levels.

It is mainly emerging that the tennis court is a great cohesion tool, as is the pétanque track the adjoining it. They bring together people of all generations and from all walks of life around the same passion. The afternoons of tennis and pétanque turn into moments of sharing, laughter and exchanges and the intergenerational link is strengthened.

“The presence of this tennis court already contributes to the attractiveness of the locality”, will conclude Mr. Vigié. It is one more link for new families in search of tranquility and local services and is now participating in the identity of the town, making it more alive and dynamic.
