Ferrari: Leclerc Investigation & Internal Review

The Ferrari Formula 1 team faced a challenging weekend on the streets of Baku, with drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc finishing in eighth and ninth place, respectively. Following the race, it was revealed that Leclerc’s car experienced critically important issues, prompting team principal Frédéric Vasseur to announce an internal investigation into the problems.

Ferrari arrived in Azerbaijan’s capital with optimism, especially considering Leclerc’s past success on the Baku circuit, where he had secured pole position in previous years. however, this year’s qualifying session saw Leclerc crash at the beginning of Q3, forcing him to start further down the grid. Hamilton, who had already been struggling, found himself in a difficult catch-up race that ultimately did not yield the desired results. adding to the team’s woes, Hamilton also had to contend with a straightforward team order during the race.

“We Can’t Be Satisfied” with Eighth and Ninth Place

Team principal Frédéric Vasseur expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance. In a statement,Vasseur conveyed his frustration, stating,We certainly cannot be satisfied with the eighth and ninth place in the race. We started behind the McLaren of Lando Norris and we also finished behind him. That is simply the reality of this circuit.

Investigation Launched into Car Problems

Leclerc battled with his car throughout the entire race, and it was later confirmed that his Ferrari was suffering from engine-related issues. Vasseur acknowledged the severity of the problem and announced a thorough internal review. We had a problem with Charles’ motorcycle, which we are going to investigate further. Even if it was only marginal, it was bothering him making it difficult for him to catch up on the right piece. he explained.

Looking for Positives Amidst Setbacks

Despite the disappointing outcome, Vasseur attempted to find a silver lining, noting progress in performance as the Belgian Grand Prix. Though, he admitted that qualifying results fell short of expectations. In terms of performance, we have taken a step after Belgium, but in qualifying we had hoped for more than the tenth and twelfth place. Vasseur stated. He emphasized the need to analyze the weekend’s events to understand where mistakes were made and poor choices were taken. While acknowledging Leclerc’s personal responsibility for his qualifying performance, Vasseur stressed the team’s collective effort to improve. Now we have to understand what we could have done better, because we have made mistakes and wrong choices. I know that Charles takes responsibility for the qualification, but we have to work on our performance to come back stronger.
